Despite all the efforts and the most sophisticated styling measures formless greasy locks of hair can become a permanent condition, which creates frustration among many women with oily hair. Oily hair looks neobgrizhvana and is considered a flaw in the nature of each person. In fact, it is nothing more than the result of a natural process. Roots have sebaceous glands that secrete a fatty substance called sebum. Indeed, this sebum is very useful for hair. Sebum keeps hair healthy, smooth and protect hair from excessive drying and breakage.

Excess production of sebum is the reason for the presence of oily hair. In the worst scenario, sebum glands clog the hair roots, which can lead to excessive hair loss and dandruff production. The reasons for the overproduction of sebum are heredity, unhealthy eating habits, medication or improper hair care. The production of sebum can vary depending on the seasons, climate changes, hormonal fluctuations or the presence of longer periods of stress.

Tip: Wash greasy hair often
In severe cases of oily hair may help the dermatologist's advice. Prescription drugs include full trans-retinoic acid or short ATRA (vitamin A related matter), which regulates the secretion of the sebaceous glands. In most cases, however, special hair products can end too oily hair. These products will restore the balanced production of oil from sebaceous glands. Algae and herbs such as horsetail, rosemary, coltsfoot, nettle, chamomile and sage regulate sebum production and soothe the scalp. Medical tar shampoos may regulate the secretion of sebum. However, please note: do not use products containing proteins or substances filling lipids such as oils or silicon! They only worsen an already bad situation, compounded by the hair and make it more oily than it was before.

Besides proper care, perseverance in applying the right products also plays an important role. Some people believe that frequent a shampoo stimulates the production of sebum. This claim, however, in reality there is no reason. The opposite is true. Oily hair should be washed frequently, ie even every day if necessary. Any shampoo treatment removes almost all the sebum from the sebaceous glands. Any shampoo removes some more sebum (oil), provided that the shampoo is massaged into the scalp. The result is clear: the right care will soon put an end to oily hair.

  • Use only lukewarm water. Warm water stimulates the production of sebum.
  • Do not use a hair brush. The brush will only distribute sebum throughout the hair from roots to ends. Combing the hair with a comb will suffice.
